Terms & Conditions – Little Leaf Company
Last updated: 29 October 2026
Welcome to Little Leaf Company (www.littleleaf.co.za).
By accessing our website or purchasing products from us, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before placing an order.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), where applicable.
1. Our Products
Little Leaf Company specialises in live plants, including rare, collectible, tropical and variegated varieties.
As plants are living products, each plant is unique and may differ slightly from the photographs displayed on our website.
Variations may include:
-
Leaf size, shape and colour
-
Variegation patterns and intensity
-
Plant height, maturity and growth characteristics
-
Number of leaves and natural cosmetic imperfections
Product photographs are representative unless specifically stated that the exact plant pictured is the plant being sold.
We make every reasonable effort to ensure product descriptions and photographs accurately represent the plants offered.
2. Plant Health and Natural Variations
All plants are inspected before dispatch to ensure they are in suitable condition for shipping.
Customers acknowledge that:
-
Plants may experience temporary stress following transportation.
-
Some leaf movement, minor cosmetic damage or changes in appearance may occur during transit.
-
Plants require appropriate environmental conditions and care after delivery.
-
Growth rates, future variegation and long-term plant performance cannot be guaranteed.
Natural variations that are consistent with the product description do not necessarily constitute defects.
Nothing in these terms limits a customer's statutory rights relating to defective, damaged or incorrectly supplied products.
3. Pricing and Payment
All prices are displayed in South African Rand (ZAR).
Prices may change without prior notice, but changes will not affect orders already accepted and paid for.
Payment must be completed through the payment methods available at checkout.
Orders are subject to stock availability and successful payment verification.
We reserve the right to cancel an order where a genuine pricing error, stock discrepancy or other legitimate issue prevents fulfilment. Where payment has already been received, the customer will be refunded in accordance with applicable law.
4. Shipping and Delivery
We offer door-to-door courier delivery throughout South Africa.
Live plant orders are dispatched on Mondays only.
This shipping schedule is designed to minimise the risk of plants remaining in courier facilities over weekends.
Orders received after the applicable dispatch cut-off will be scheduled for the next available Monday.
Where a Monday falls on a public holiday or shipping conditions are unsuitable, dispatch may be postponed.
Delivery times are estimates and depend on courier operations and destination.
We take reasonable care when packaging plants but cannot guarantee an exact delivery date.
Please refer to our Shipping Policy for further details.
5. Customer Delivery Responsibilities
Customers must provide a complete and accurate delivery address, contact number and any relevant delivery instructions.
We recommend that someone be available to receive the parcel during normal business hours.
Once delivered, plants should be unpacked promptly and placed in an appropriate environment.
Customers should contact us promptly if a delivery is delayed, damaged or incorrectly delivered.
Any additional courier charges arising from incorrect delivery details or unsuccessful delivery attempts may be payable by the customer where legally permissible and appropriately disclosed.
6. Returns, Refunds and Exchanges
We want every customer to receive healthy plants that match their order.
However, because plants are living products, returns require special consideration.
6.1 Damaged or Incorrect Plants
If a plant arrives damaged, unhealthy or materially different from the product ordered, please contact us as soon as possible, preferably within 24 hours of delivery.
Please provide:
-
Your order number
-
Clear photographs of the plant
-
Photographs of any damage and the packaging
-
A brief description of the problem
The 24-hour notification period helps us investigate courier-related damage quickly. It does not remove or reduce any rights provided by South African consumer law.
Where a product is defective, damaged or incorrectly supplied, we will provide the appropriate remedy required by applicable law.
6.2 Change-of-Mind Returns
Due to the delicate and perishable nature of live plants, change-of-mind returns may be restricted where permitted by law.
Any applicable statutory cooling-off or return rights remain fully enforceable.
Where a voluntary return is accepted, the plant must be returned in an appropriate condition and packaging, subject to the agreed return arrangements.
6.3 Refunds
Approved refunds will be processed through the original payment method wherever reasonably possible.
Refund processing times may depend on the payment provider or financial institution.
Customers are entitled to remedies provided by applicable consumer legislation.
7. Plant Care After Delivery
Once plants have been delivered, their continued health depends on factors including:
-
Watering and drainage
-
Lighting conditions
-
Temperature and humidity
-
Growing medium and fertilisation
-
Pest management
-
Acclimatisation to their new environment
Little Leaf Company cannot guarantee a plant's future growth, survival or continued variegation where its condition is affected by subsequent environmental conditions or improper care.
This does not exclude liability for defects or other matters for which we are legally responsible.
8. Rare and Variegated Plants
Rare and variegated plants may exhibit considerable natural differences between individual specimens.
Variegation is influenced by genetics and plant development and may change as the plant grows.
Unless expressly guaranteed in the product description, we do not guarantee that future leaves will maintain a particular colour pattern or degree of variegation.
Customers purchasing rare plants should familiarise themselves with the care requirements of the selected species or cultivar.
9. Pre-Orders and Availability
Certain plants may be offered for pre-order before they are ready for dispatch.
Estimated availability and dispatch dates will be communicated where applicable.
As plants are living products, growth and readiness may be affected by natural factors outside our reasonable control.
If a significant delay occurs, customers will be informed and offered the options required by applicable law, including a refund where appropriate.
10. Promotions and Discounts
Promotional offers are subject to their advertised terms, availability and validity periods.
Unless otherwise stated, promotional discounts cannot be combined.
We reserve the right to correct genuine promotional errors, subject to applicable consumer protection legislation.
11. Website Content and Intellectual Property
All original website content, including photographs, product descriptions, logos, branding and written materials, belongs to Little Leaf Company or its respective rights holders.
Content may not be reproduced or used commercially without permission, except where permitted by law.
12. Limitation of Liability
Little Leaf Company takes reasonable steps to ensure products are accurately described, appropriately packaged and supplied in accordance with applicable law.
We are not responsible for plant deterioration resulting solely from improper care, unsuitable growing conditions or other circumstances occurring after delivery that are outside our legal responsibility.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted under South African law.
13. Privacy and Personal Information
We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and other applicable legislation.
Customer information is used for purposes including order processing, payment administration, delivery, customer support and lawful marketing activities.
Please refer to our Privacy Policy for further information.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The latest version will be published on our website.
Changes will not retrospectively remove rights that customers acquired under an existing purchase agreement.
15. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Any disputes will be handled in accordance with applicable South African legislation and the jurisdiction of the appropriate courts or consumer dispute-resolution bodies.
